First Dates: 10 of the WORST things that have actually happened IRL
The Irish First Dates is hitting our screens for the first time tonight, and it’s safe to say we’re all DYING to have a good gawk.
In honour of this momentous occasion, we have compiled a list of 10 of the worst things that have EVER happened on a first date in, you know, real life.
These things have legitimately happened to human beings, who we know and admire, in their pursuit of love, and we adore them even more for it.
It's rough out there ladies, but you don't need us to tell you that…
1. I pulled the handle off the guy's porch door in a panic because I thought he wasn't answering the bell quick enough.
"This fell off. Here you go! Aaaaand now I can't breathe."
2. I had a guy get so drunk on a first date he accidentally peed on my leg outside a nightclub.
"I actually remember thinking 'It's raining…but not on my head?'"
3. I had a guy accidentally text me telling me how bad the date was going while we were still on it.
"Well! I thought YOU were just MARVELLOUS company."
4. I was so busy trying to look interested I didn't realise I was pouring my drink UP my sleeve.
"How does that even happen?"
5. I had a guy offer to buy the first round as long as my choice was under €5.
"He got himself a cocktail."
6. I had a guy demand I explain 'the real reason' why my mam went to Mass every week.
"Eh, cos she's an Irish Mammy?!"
7. I had the most boring guy I've ever met tell me I was a "sh*tty conversationalist".
"Oh sorry, let's return to the 'bants' you have with the lads on Call of Duty night, shall we?"
8. I had one guy move closer and closer to me during an already bad date that by the end I was backed up against the wall and my back ached for days from arching away from him.
"Is this really necessary?"
9. We got to know each other a bit better in his car after the first date when we were interrupted by a carpark attendant in a golf buggy with a flashing orange light on top.
"You're going to have to move the Love Shack on, lads."
10. I had a guy tell me on the first date that this was never going to work out because he was still in love with his ex.
"Should I just see myself out?"
