McBusted member Matt Willis is joining the cast of BBC1’s much loved series, Eastenders.

The 30-year-old will be taking on the role of a young ambitious man who is in a relationship with Stacey Branning, played by Lacey Turner.

The news was announced just weeks after Lacey confirmed she will return to play Stacey after a three-year break, saying: “I am so excited about returning and seeing what the future holds for her. It’s been a while since I set foot in Albert Square and I am looking forward to coming home.”

Commenting on his new TV role, Matt said: “I am so thrilled to be a part of such an iconic show. I grew up watching EastEnders so this is really exciting for me!”

Executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins admitted that he was always very fond of Willis, and with this new addition to the Eastenders crew, viewers will be in for a treat.

Although Matt won’t be seen on screen until early next year, he is currently filming a few scenes for this dramatic series.

Eastenders fans will be thrilled to know that Matt isn’t the only one who will be joining the show, as actor Danny Dyer gets ready to play incoming Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter.
