If talking to your friends to tell them you're free to do something is too much effort, there's now an app for it.

Google's new Who's Down app allows users to notify others when they're free to hang out and socialise. All you need to do is toggle the list and it will tell you the users that are available at any given time.

The toggle lasts for three hours and can be manually switched on or off if your plans happen to change.

Users can also mention what they're up for, whether it's coffee, some shopping or just some chill time, but there's also a list of activities you can choose from like grabbing lunch or watching a movie.

The app also notifies your friends that are in the mood to do something similar, and once enough people want to do the same thing, it automatically opens a group chat so you can organise your plans.

But the conversations only last for 24-hours, so once the messaging stops, there's no need for anymore pesky notifications.

The new app is available on both iPhone and Android and uses an invite system to gain more users.
