Being a grown up and having to go to your food shopping is already enough of an ordeal, but it's made that little bit worse by the computer woman who decides to tip you over the edge with her "unexpected item in bagging area" catch phrase. 

Thankfully, Tesco have decided to make shopping at the self-service counter that little bit less painful by introducing a new 'friendlier' voice to remind you that "your item can now be placed in your bag".

Following customers feedback, Tesco realised that the current voice had "become a source of frustration" for people shopping in their stores, with some people describing it as "shouty" (We agree)

Tesco will also introduce some friendlier phrases such as "thank you for shopping at Tesco" alongside ditching those dreaded five words. 

James Dewen, self service checkout operations manager at Tesco said: "Customers really like the convenience of our self-service checkouts, especially when they're just popping into store to pick up lunch or a few items after work. But for some, the voice leaves them a bit frustrated."

All of the female voices phrases will now be replaced with the friendlier male voice:
