Want to get verified on Instagram? Well, now you can.

The social media site announced today that it will be widening the scope for eligible participants, giving us peasants the opportunity to get that beautiful blue check mark beside our username.

The verified badge has been available to notable public figures, celebrities, and global brands or entities.

Now, Instagram is expanding their definition of notable public figures to include popular Insta accounts.

“Today we are enabling a new way for accounts that reach large audiences and meet our criteria to request verification through a form within the Instagram app,” the company announced.

Applications for verification are open to everyone, barred you break community guidelines or don't adhere to the terms and conditions, and all that legal jazz.

So, what are these people checking applications for?

For quick and easy approval, your Insta account must be:

  • Authentic – Your account must be a legitimate person, business, or entity.

  • Unique –  What makes your profile different? Instagram is looking for a unique presence and will NOT verify general interest accounts like dog memes or cute babies.

  • Complete – Your account must be public, so that everyone can see it. It must also have a bio, profile photo, and at least one post. Your profile can't contain "add me" links to other social media services.

  • Notable – This requires some Insta fame. Your account must represent a well-known, highly searched for person, brand or entity. If the account has been mentioned on a few news sites, this is especially helpful. Also, they won't consider paid or promotional content as sources for review.

If you meet these requirements or think you do (it’s worth a shot) then you can apply via the app.

Simply tap ‘Settings’ and then ‘Request Verification’. Then enter your full name and provide a form of ID.

3 Steps to Apply

Once your request has been reviewed, you will receive a notification letting you know if your application has been approved or not.

Don’t worry if you are rejected the first time around. Spend some time gaining Insta fame and reapply after 30 days.

Also, be aware of scammers! Instagram will NEVER ask for money for verification.

So what are you waiting for? You can apply for verification now.
