In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, tens of thousands have been displaced from their homes and are in need of aid.

At least 35 people have died in the floods and a number have been reported missing.

Donald Trump, who is worth a reported 3.5 billion dollars, is set to make a personal donation to those in need.

The White House says that the POTUS has promised to donate 1 million dollars to help those in need.

The money will go to storm relief efforts, and he has not yet decided which specific organisation to donate it to.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders made the announcement yesterday.

The storm is now moving from Texas towards the state of Louisana.

35 people have died due to the extreme weather conditions caused by Hurricane Harvey, and a number of others are missing.

Hurricane Harvey has caused havoc in not only Texas, but now the state of Louisiana as well.

After causing mass flooding in the Lone Star State, the tropical storms record breaking rain fall has now set its sights on the neighbouring state.

People are fleeing their homes in Louisiana to seek shelter from the storm, much like a vast number of Texas residents currently in emergency shelters after being displaced by the storm.

32,000 people are in shelters in the wake of the storm.

'Catastrophic and life threatening flooding will continue in and around Houston, Beaumont/Port Arthur, eastward into southwest Louisiana for the rest of the week,' said the US National Hurricane Centre, according to RTÉ.

The storm has been moved from hurricane status to tropical depression status.

It is estimated that upwards of 30,000 people will need housing in shelters in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.

Those seeking shelter have had their homes flooded by the ever increasing inches of rain which are covering some areas.

A further 450,000 Texans are set to seek some form of disaster assistance.

It is reported that up to eight people have lost their lives to the disaster.

Some areas face further feet of flooding, as the hurricane continues to pour water down on the residents.

According to The Scientific American, the storm is now sustaining itself over Texas, rather than using the ocean to draw up water to turn into rain.

'Harvey has dropped so much water over such a large area of southeastern Texas that the storm is pulling that water back up into itself and dumping it again as more rain.'

Hurricane Harvey slammed into the US State of Texas at around 3am last night.

The storm, a Catagory 4 weather phenomenon, has already caused structural damage to a number of buildings due to the force of it's winds, which are reaching over 200km per hour.

It is the most powerful storm recorded in the US in over ten years.

Harvey is expected to bring up to three feet of rain, which is expected to cause major flooding in the region.

According to weather.com, 'dangerous storm-surge flooding, damaging winds and a couple tornadoes are also threats.'

It has also cut power to a number of areas by knocking down power lines.

POTUS Donald Trump has signed a disaster order for Texas, making help available to those who may need it during this time.
