Hurricane Harvey slammed into the US State of Texas at around 3am last night.

The storm, a Catagory 4 weather phenomenon, has already caused structural damage to a number of buildings due to the force of it's winds, which are reaching over 200km per hour.

It is the most powerful storm recorded in the US in over ten years.

Harvey is expected to bring up to three feet of rain, which is expected to cause major flooding in the region.

According to weather.com, 'dangerous storm-surge flooding, damaging winds and a couple tornadoes are also threats.'

It has also cut power to a number of areas by knocking down power lines.

POTUS Donald Trump has signed a disaster order for Texas, making help available to those who may need it during this time.
