Yesterday it was confirmed that Irish rugby star Gordon D'Arcy and Aoife Cogan had welcomed their first child together, and the newborn girl's name has finally been revealed.

Gordon himself announced the happy baby news yesterday afternoon, sharing a beautiful image of his new daughter's hand grasping his finger:

Now, the little one's name has been let slip, by none other than Aoife's boss. Derek Daniels of Assets modelling agency where Aoife is signed, posted on Twitter and Instagram today to congratulate the happy parents on their new arrival.

"Huge congrats to Aoifa and Gordan on the birth of beautiful Soleil X," he wrote.

Soleil, the French word for "sun," is definitely an unusual choice for Gordon and Aoife, but it's already growing on us.

Could it be a nod to Ireland's dramatic rugby win over France last year, sealing the team's victory as Six Nations winners?

We're delighted for rugby star Gordon D'Arcy and his wife, model Aoife Cogan, this morning, as it's been revealed they have welcomed their first child.

Gordon took to Twitter yesterday to share the news and tell followers of his joy at being a new dad.

Posting a sweet picture of his new daughter's hand grabbing his finger, the sports star and entrepreneur wrote, "My beautiful baby girl."

No name has been revealed for Gordon and Aoife's little one just yet – we can't wait to hear what they've chosen.

The couple married in 2012 in a ceremony in Co. Monaghan, and announced in January of this year that they were expecting their first child.

Aoife admitted that she was keen to keep the gender of their new arrival a surprise until the birth, saying, "There are so few surprises left in life and I love all the guessing; the old wives' tales and everyone having a theory about whether it's a boy or a girl because of the way you're carrying the baby and the shape of the bump."

Shortly before the baby's birth, Gordon publicly thanked his wife for the "gift" she was giving him, taking to the stage at the Leinster Ball to say, "You're an amazing woman, you're giving me the best gift that anyone could ever give."

It’s been a busy week for baby news, with Shakira keeping us all on baby-watch ahead of welcoming her second child on Thursday.

Now, it’s Irish model Aoife Cogan who is celebrating, with the revelation that she and her rugby star husband Gordon D’Arcy are expecting their first child together.

While few details have been released as of yet, the Irish Independent reports that the couple are expecting for this coming May.

Model Aoife previously spoke of their plans to start a family in an interview, saying: “Kids are a blessing and we hope to have some in the future. But nothing to report yet.”

The couple, who set up a fitness studio named Form School together, exchanged vows in a stunning ceremony in Castle Leslie, back in 2012.
