We seriously love puppies here at SHEmazing! So when we spotted a litter of more than a dozen adorable canine arrivals doing the rounds online, we got oh-so excited.

And justifiable so, we reckon: because the 14 bassets pups also come complete with an 'everyone say awwww!' video that, upon viewing, will probably just about make up for the fact that it's Monday.

Their mum, Tessa, is two-and-a-half and she's apparently doing brilliantly with her new brood of seven boys and seven girls.

Although it hasn't been entirely plain-sailing: during labour, the pooch had to be rushed to the vets for an emergency caesarean after she struggled to deliver them all safely.

Also, because the average litter size for a basset hound is around eight to 10 pups, Tessa is finding it difficult to feed them all at the same time – meaning Tessa’s owners, Michelle and Andy Robinson and their three children, are stepping in to give her a helping hand.

Michelle, 44, told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "We were all absolutely gobsmacked. We knew she was big but didn’t think for a minute she’d have 14.

"I’m absolutely in awe. After what she’s been through – she’s brilliant."

Michelle also explained that an early ultrasound showed just seven pups in utero.

The Yorkshire-based family has now colour-coordinated the pups by painting their fur with seven shades of nail varnish, so none of them misses out on a feed.

Tessa the Basset Hound stuns vets by giving birth to a litter of 14
Tessa the Basset Hound is recovering at home in Morley, West Yorkshire, after a dramatic birth. Her owners are working in shifts to cover the time-consuming 24-hour feed of all 14 puppies.
