How did Gwen get over her split? By listening to HER OWN songs

So, as it turns out, Gwen Stefani is quite like the rest of us. And be honest, how many of us listened to Don't Speak while crying over a tub of Ben and Gerry's? It was the ultimate split-up song until Adele came around.

Gwen was on The Tommy Show this week and admitted to the radio host that she would listen to her old songs and think she was "not in that place" anymore. However, she can't make that excuse anymore after her recent divorce from Gavin Rossdale.

"It's almost the opposite because of my situation right now, which we all know what I'm talking about," she said.

"I feel like I go back and listen to a lot of that stuff, and I get sick. You look at the song and you go, 'That was a red flag. That was a moment where I was feeling just as bad as I feel today and why did I keep it up?'"

She even admitted that even though her divorce was difficult to go through, it makes for great music.

"In my life I've had two really bad heartbreaks and I've written some incredible music out of it."

"I feel so lucky to have that and to be able to share it. I feel like it's part of what I contribute to the world and I feel really proud of that."

Here's Gwen performing her new single Used To Love You. Move over Adele, this break-up anthem might just beat yours.
