Watch out, Ryanair! New budget airline offers Dublin to LA for €200

A mini-break to San Francisco or a last-minute trip to Boston might sound totally out of the question given your post-Christmas bank balance, but with prices like these you might just be able to make it work.

WOW air have just launched brand new routes between Dublin and USA/Canada, with fares starting at €199 one way including taxes and charges.

The Icelandic airline operates all flights with a stopover in Reykjavik, their main transport hub, and it's the first low-cost airline to offer transatlantic routes out of Ireland.

WOW currently flies to Boston and Washington DC, and will offer regular flights to LA and San Francisco from June, plus Toronto and Montréal from May.

"This is a game changer for WOW air, and arguably the travel industry, making travel to the US and Iceland both easy and affordable from Ireland," said WOW's founder Skuli Mogensen of the new routes.

"We are thrilled to add Los Angeles and San Francisco to our fast growing network."

As well as the North American destinations, WOW also flies from Dublin to Reykjavik for €95 one way, which is handy if you're planning a trip to Airwaves festival in the Icelandic capital this year.

Right, we're off to empty our bank balance of our last few hundred quid. See you in LA…
