It's been five years since her father's tragic death, and yesterday Vogue Williams paid tribute to the man she called a "best friend."

Vogue's father Freddie died of a stroke in November 2010 aged 68, and though he had been unwell for a while his death came as a total shock for the model.

"He had a stroke before and two heart attacks," Vogue explained to Ryan Tubridy on RTÉ Radio 1 last year.

"He was actually going in to hospital to have surgery for an aneurism and after that he died from a stroke."

Taking to Instagram yesterday, the RTÉ Two presenter admitted her dad was still on her mind every day.

"Five years ago today we lost our amazing Dad. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him," she wrote alongside a close-up photo of Freddie.

"I'm so glad we got to the stage of being best friends as well as father and daughter before I lost him. Miss you always Dad."

The 29-year-old has spoken before about how close she was to her late father, saying they used to party together like friends.

"My dad is my dad and it was good to be friends with him. I used to go out with him at weekends and stay with him during the week," she said.

"You would see him in Gibney’s in Malahide every night, you wouldn’t miss him, he partied hard. He liked having a good time and loved smoking.

"I thought I’d always be upset about it, but almost five years on I love hearing stories about him."

Having split from singer Brian McFadden in July 2015 after three years of marriage, Vogue says the last few months have been tough for her.

"Life is so strange and at times extremely difficult,” she said in a recent interview.

"I haven’t had the best year and it doesn’t look like the rest of it will be much better but hard times only make you tougher."
