Three people lost their lives last Monday during the worst storm Ireland has seen in decades, and tragically the death toll continues to rise.

Over the course of the past two days, two men died while carrying out separate repairs in the aftermath of Storm Ophelia.

On Saturday, a man in his mid 70s, who was repairing his farm shed in Kilmacanogue, Co. Wicklow, died after falling from a ladder.

The following day, a man in his mid 50s died after sustaining injuries while repairing the roof of a shed in Kilgarriff outside Clonakilty in west Cork.

As per protocol, the Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority will conduct investigations into the incidents.

According to The Independent, post mortems will be carried out in both cases.

Clare O'Neill, Fintan Goss, Michael Pyke all died last Monday in tree-related incidents.
