American retailer Gap has sparked controversy after tweeting a photo of a very slim model, wearing a plaid shirtdress with the caption: “Dress up your days in pastel plaid”

Once the tweet was sent out, the Internet responded with a LOT of criticism:

“Seriously, Gap? In what world do people look like this? Perhaps you could select models who represent regular gals and not a skeletor ghost.”

“Doesn’t Gap feed its models? Seriously she looks ill. Please use healthy looking women in your ads next time.”

Another said the model looked like “a pencil in plaid”.

The same shirtdress is on the retailer’s website, only there, it is modelled by a regular sized model, which makes you wonder why they chose to use a size zero model on social media.

Gap have yet to respond to the comments.
