Congratulations are in store for Michael McKillop, he was won GOLD in the middle distance running in Rio.

The Glengormley native had to run in 29C heat and took the lead with 600m to go alongside Canada's Liam Stanley.

With 200m to go, Michael eased away from Liam and into victory at 4:12.12.

The gold medalist has a form of cerebral palsy and won his first Paralympic gold in the 800m in Beijing.

This is Ireland's third medal of the Paralympic Games of 2016.

We're delighted for Michael.
