Mad Men star Elizabeth Moss, who play Peggy on the show, has opened up about a darker part of her life – her marriage.

The actress married Late Night band leader and Saturday Night Live alum, Fred Armisen in 2010 but the two divorced only eight months later.

Elizabeth looks back on the time in less than pleasent terms but also looks at the positives: “It was extremely traumatic and awful and horrible. At the same time, it turned out for best. I’m glad I’m not there. I’m glad it didn’t happen when I was 50 … I’m glad I didn’t have kids.”

It would also seem that Fred was the cause of the split. When he was a guest on Howard Stern’s radio show, Stern said in relation to the marriage, “She must f***ing hate you” to which Fred replied, “I imagine so … I think I was a terrible husband.”
