Joss Whedon’s new movie got a surprise digital release in the middle of the night.

In Your Eyes, which the The Avengers director co-wrote and produced, had its world première at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City on Sunday night.

Whedon appeared to the crowd via video after the movie screened, thanking them all for coming and announcing the release date for In Your Eyes. Right now!

“It’s not just the première of the film, it is the worldwide release date because as of now, In Your Eyes is available on any internet-capable device,” Whedon said.

“This is exciting for us because it means we get to explore yet another form of distribution, and we get $5,” he added.

In Your Eyes is a sci-fi romance in which a doctor’s wife (Kazan) falls in love with an ex-con (Michael Stahl-David).

The full digital rental is available at the movie’s official site InYourEyesMovie.com for $5.

Whedon is currently working on the Avengers sequel Age of Ultron, which is due to be released next year.
