We all love chocolate. And to be honest, we'd eat a big chocolate cake everyday if our hips would allow us.

But there's a new controversial ingredient which one baker believes is the key to a "chocolate nirvana."

Are you ready for it? … You're going to squirm… OK, it's mayonnaise.

"Now before you go and turn your nose up, I want you to understand why mayonnaise is used to make some of the finest chocolate cake you'll ever experience," said Mirabile, an American baker.

Mirabile also explained to Country Living that the sandwich spread acts as a substitute for the oil that's normally used in chocolate cake. It balances out the sugar and stops the cake from becoming too dry.

Well, do you think you would be brave enough? We're ready for "chocolate nirvana," but we're not so sure about mayo.
