Simon Cowell actually admits he made a “mistake”!

In a totally uncharacteristic move, X Factor boss SImon Cowell has admitted he was wrong about something!

The judge revealed on Twitter last night that he regretted his decision to axe Irish singer Janet Grogan from the show.

26-year-old Janet was replaced by Helen Fulthorpe on last night's Boot Camp episode. Shortly after, Simon took to Twitter to say this to his followers:

Janet was kicked off the show at the last minute after Simon chose fellow contestant Lizzy Pattinson (sister of Robert Pattinson) instead. Lizzy had initially been the one asked to leave but after heckling from the audience, Simon made the snap decision to send Janet home.

The Irish singer wowed judges and the audience with her audition performance of U2's I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, shown on the previous weekend's episode.

Fellow Dubliner Orla Keogh suffered a similar fate last Friday night, when she was sent home in a last-minute swap by judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini. What ever happened to the "luck of the Irish"?!

Despite being kicked off, we doubt Janet will be too upset. In a recent interview she said that the main reason she chose to audition for the show was to gain some exposure, and that she didn't even expect to make it to the live auditions.

"My goal has always been to get exposure. When I started out, I just wanted to get a room audition – everything after that is a bonus," she said. "I want to be an artist, I want to tour and sing and I think people have now got a glimpse of what I can do."

We wish her all the best!
