A man has bought a picture of an Irish POTATO for €1 MILLION

A picture of a muddy potato has been sold to an unnamed businessman for a massive, €1m.

We're not even joking.

The picture of the spud was taken by photographer/artist, Kevin Abosch in 2010, and it is indeed, an Irish potato.

The photo sits alongside other works of art by Kevin, including shots of Steven Spielberg, Michael Palin and Sheryl Sandberg.

Mr Abosch's pictures are usually commissioned for around €200,000, and this potato is the most anyone has paid him.

“We had two glasses of wine and he said, ‘I really like that’. Two more glasses of wine and he said: ‘I really want that.’

“We set the price two weeks later. It is the most I have been paid for a piece of work that has been bought [rather than commissioned],” Kevin told the Sunday Times.

His work is world renowned and his art has been featured in numerous magazines, including Vogue.

The photo is called Potato #345, and it's not even one-of-a-kind. There's two more of them; one in Kevin's portfolio and another was donated to an art museum in Serbia.

You might also remember Kevin's work from a couple of years ago in Terminal 2 of Dublin airport. He was the photographer behind the Faces of Ireland pictures.

As of what happened to the mucky potato? Kevin doesn't know, so it was probably turned into mash.
