Watch-out: there’s a Trainwreck coming soon to Dublin

by

One of Hollywood’s funniest ladies is coming to visit us! Hurray! Yes, we’re all very excited to hear that Amy Schumer will be appearing at the Dublin International Film Festival.

Director-producer of her newest film Trainwreck, Judd Apatow and co-star Bill Hader are also going to be in attendance at the special screening.

Amy stars in the film as a woman who lives her life with no apologies, even when she maybe should.

A sort of living embodiment of the ‘sorry not sorry’ phrase that comes up quite a lot these days. Her character, called Amy, is a described as a something of a pessimist when it comes to romance until she meets a sports doctor, played by Bill Hader.

Grainne Humphreys, director of the festival said about the appearance: “2015 is proving to be the year of Amy Schumer, a pistol smart satirist, a Facebook feminist, a sassy screenwriter who has film friends in all the right places.

She has clambered over her fellow comedic peers to ascend to the throne of this year's Comic Most Wanted.”

Amy, 34, not only stars in the film but is responsible for creating her character and writing the screenplay. In 2011 she got a lot of attention for her Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen and became a household name in the US shortly after.

Working with Judd Apatow has turned out quite well for a lot of other famous faces, including fellow funny woman Lena Dunham. Judd is known for introducing new comedy voices into mainstream film.

While Amy doesn’t seem to need much introduction these days, we’re excited to see the trio all together.

The Irish premiere for Trainwreck is August 14 with the Dublin International Film Festival 2016 already being announced to take place February 18-28.
