FUJIFILM has just announced the instax SQUARE 2™, the newest addition to its iconic instax™ SQUARE lineup, and it’s arriving at just the right time of year if you’ve got a birthday, a Christmas list, or a teenager who thinks they’re too cool for everything but would absolutely lose their mind over this.

The instax™ SQUARE format has always had a certain magic to it. That square print feels considered, almost artistic, like you put thought into the moment rather than just spraying off forty shots and forgetting about them. The new instax SQUARE 2™ keeps everything fans love about that format while adding some genuinely useful upgrades — including one feature that feels made for our current mood-board obsessed, aesthetic-everything era.

Meet the Mood Filter Switch

The headline new feature is the Mood Filter Switch. It lets you choose between a Warm filter for a soft golden tone, a Cool filter for crisp blue-tinted colour, or Off for the classic instax™ film look. It’s a small thing but it changes everything — because sometimes a sunny afternoon calls for warmth, and sometimes a moody autumn walk absolutely needs that cool, cinematic feel. The camera handles it with a simple twist rather than any fiddly digital menu, which is exactly how it should be.

Beyond the filters, the instax SQUARE 2™ comes with Automatic Exposure and Automatic Flash, a built-in selfie mirror (always appreciated), and intuitive twist-to-operate controls that let you switch between Close-up Mode, Landscape Mode and Standard Mode. It comes in three colours — Slate Blue, Misty White or Brick Red — and honestly all three are gorgeous.

A New Film to Go With It

Alongside the camera, FUJIFILM is also launching a new instax™ SQUARE instant film called SOFT HAZE. It’s designed to give your shots a softer, dreamier look — reduced saturation and contrast, glowing highlights and warm diffused shadows. Each pack contains 10 exposures. It’s the kind of aesthetic that would’ve taken ages to recreate on an app, and here it’s just baked right into the film. Film for the instax™ SQUARE is sold separately.

When Can You Get It?

The instax SQUARE 2™ is expected to be available in late October 2026 at a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price of €110. The instax™ SQUARE Soft Haze film is also expected to land at the same time, priced at €12 per pack. For more information you can head here.
