‘Designed to test response’: Terror drill to be carried out in Dublin city

According to report on Dublin's 98FM, Dublin city centre will play host to a terror drill today.

It is understood that Defence Chiefs will be participating in a major training exercise which will see the arrival of military and armoured vehicles, as well as helicopters and armed gardai, onto the streets of the capital.

The Garda Press Office have confirmed the event, stating: "An Garda Siochana is supporting a Defence Forces exercise designed to test response to a request to Aid the Civil Power, namely An Garda Siochana, who hold the lead to responding to any potential terrorist attack in the State."

The purpose of the simulated terror attack is to allow services to practice in the event of a genuine emergency.

The location and time of the drill has not been disclosed as of yet.
