Most of us would literally jump through hoops to achieve a natural summer glow (or an unnatural orange hue, whatever floats your boat).

Whether it means using a whole bottle of Cocoa Brown, getting naked in front of a stranger for a spray tan or even exposing ourselves to dangerous UV rays, there is literally no limit to the lengths us Irish women will go through to get that radiant glow.

And while we all hate being pasty white, what happened to this British lady really shows the damage these machines can do to our skin.

Zaynab Alkhatib, a glamour model from Manchester, went to her local tanning salon twice in one day.

The 30-year-old spent twenty minutes topping up her tan at around lunch time before coming back to the salon in the evening for a further twelve minutes under the UV lights.

According to Zaynab, the salon in question, Savannah High Tech Tanning, did not warn the model about the dangers of over-exposure but the results speak for themselves.

After 32 minutes on a sunbed in one day, Zaynab suffered red and painful blisters all over her stomach and legs.

"I still can't work now," Zaynab said to the Manchester Evening News.

"I was supposed to do a shoot this week and I haven't been able to. I have just been stinging and lying in bed."

Let this be a lesson ladies!
