A totally loved-up Ellen Page and her surfer/artist girlfriend of several months have now made their public debut as a couple.

Hitting the red-carpet holding hands, the 28-year-old actress and Samantha Thomas, 33, were in Canada for the screening of Freeheld at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Describing herself as “in love,” Ellen also told E! News: “Walking down the carpet holding my girlfriend's hand is pretty special.

“It's pretty awesome.”

Samantha later joined Ellen at the swish Vanity Fair Freeheld after-party, with co-stars Julianne Moore and Steve Carell making an appearance too.

Another guest was Australian model and Orange Is The New Black actress Ruby Rose, 29, who later posted a snap of her and Ellen to her Instagram account.

Ms Moore, 54, had earlier also made full use of her social media presence, calling Ms Page her “wifey,” on Twitter as the duo promoted their flick yesterday afternoon.

Ellen had revealed that she was gay during an emotional speech at the influential Time To Thrive conference in February of last year.

The X-men star said afterwards she was the most nervous she had ever been in her life while giving the speech.
