This girl just got to play a duet with Ed Sheeran and it was the best moment of her life. The teenager was so excited she couldn’t stop crying after the performance with her idol. Totally understandable reaction.

Ed Sheeran is on tour in Canada at the moment, and obviously having some free time headed to a local shopping centre in Alberta to find one of his own songs being played live.

The 13-year-old Sydney Bourbeau was singing Sheeran’s song Thinking Out Loud when Ed decided to hop up on stage and join the young singer for an impromptu duet.

The teenager was raising funds for the Edmonton Humane Society with her music school when Ed heard the performance.

Speaking with her local newspaper she said “I was like, should I stop? I didn’t want to stop, but I wanted to talk to him. This is, like, the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

Sydney managed to keep it cool despite being in shock and didn’t miss a beat in the performance. Nicely played Sydney, considering hours later she received a text from Sheeran’s manager to offer her two tickets to Ed’s performance on Sunday night.

Having been a fan of Ed since his first album was released in 2011 the singer didn’t even realise he had joined her on stage until the crowd started cheering.

Her singing teacher applauded Sydney for staying calm while her idol suddenly appeared on stage beside her. Micheal Cathrea is president of Sydney’s music school and said “it was amazing that she was actually able to keep it together and finish.”

It’s not the first time Ed Sheeran has done something incredible for his fans. The singer has proven himself to be a big softie when it comes to giving back to his supporters and we can’t get enough of it.

Fingers crossed next time he’s in Ireland he might feel the need to pop into our local supermarket too!
