So, there's no doubt that Ireland is going through somewhat of a gin renaissance at the moment.

Whether it's an elderflower G&T or a classic martini, everyone has their favourite way to enjoy the spirit of the moment.

With so many options available on the market, it can be hard to know what to go for, but lucky for us, that decision just got a whole lot easier.

Aldi's exclusive Boyle's Gin has just scooped up two awards at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in London.

Judged on its type, age and strength, Boyle's Premium Small Batch Irish Gin was awarded two silver medals – one in the Gin (London Dry – 40%) only competition, and one in the Gin & Tonic Competition.

Finbar McCarthy, Group Buying Director at Aldi Ireland said: “The International Wine & Spirits Competition recognises and pays tribute to the very finest products, so we are delighted to see our very own Boyle’s Gin win two very deserved awards.”

“It has been said that Ireland is experiencing somewhat of a gin revolution at the moment, and we’re very proud to be amongst those leading the way, with a top-quality gin at a very affordable price.”

The gin products entered into the competition were also given the opportunity to enter the Gin & Fever Tree Tonic category where an expert panel of judges then blind tasted each pairing and assessed them on how well they went together.

To ensure total fairness, each G&T comprised of one part gin and three parts tonic and no ice or garnish were used.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have won two silver awards at the International Wine & Spirits Competition this week,” said Peter Mulryan, Director of Blackwater Distillery in Waterford.

“There is an abundance of great gin distillers throughout Ireland at the moment, and so to have our product highlighted on an international stage is a massive achievement for us. Working with Aldi has been a hugely positive experience for us as they know what their customers want, and that’s crucial to creating a successful product.”

Named after Robert Boyle of Lismore Castle, Boyle’s Gin is sold exclusively in Aldi stores priced at €24.99.

But get there quick, this stuff will surely fly off the shelves.
