So, Kate Winslet really cannot cope with the sound of her own voice

If the sound of your own voice on tape makes your toes curl and your eyes water, you're not alone.

For us mere mortals, hearing ourselves as others hear us is a surreal experience, and one which often makes us question why we ever open our mouths.

However, we wouldn't have anticipated the same response from Oscar-winner, Kate Winslet, who visibly squirmed recently when faced with a recording of her 2003 track What If.

During an interview with BBC Radio 1, the actress was asked to recall the series of events which led to the release of the Christmas song, and she explained that producers on a Christmas Carol suggested the Berkshire-born actress record a track for the movie.

Kate said she agreed despite insisting she wasn't up to the task, and was stunned when producers suggested that they release the track.

All good so far, but then the interviewer decided to whip out an iPad and remind Kate of her foray into the world of music.

The magic kicks off at 3.35.
