Single again: Michael Fassbender calls time on yet another romance

Michael Fassbender is back on the market after ending his nine-month relationship with actress Alicia Vikander.

The Irish actor first met Alicia on the set of their 2014 film The Light Between Oceans, and he sparked up a romance with her soon after

First appearing publicly as a couple at the Monaco Grand Prix back in May, the pair looked smitten with one another. However it seems things weren't meant to be, with a source confirming to Us Weekly that the star couple have indeed split.

Despite having a string of girlfriends over the last couple of years – among them his X-Men co-star Zoe Kravitz and his Shame co-star Nicole Beharie – Michael has yet to find a long-term love.

Speaking about his relationship woes, the X-Men: First Class lead said he was simply too focused on his career to maintain a fulfilling relationship.

"I'm kind of selfish with the hours that I put into the work," he told GQ magazine in 2013.

"I think the longest relationship that I’ve been in was two years… I started doing this [acting] when I was 17, so I guess in my dating, adult life, that kind of covers it."

But there's no shortage of potential matches for Michael, it seems. The actor admits that becoming famous has made it far easier to approach women. 

"You become a lot more successful in terms of, like, talking to a girl.

"She's all of a sudden more interested in me. I know that, like, three years ago, she would’ve walked away after two sentences left my mouth."

Well, at least he's honest…
