Prince Harry and Meghan Markle pose for first official photocall

Newly engaged Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have appeared together for their first official photocall.

The beaming couple posed for photographers in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace, which was loved by his late mother, Diana.

It's been reported that Meghan's ring is made from three different stones including one from Botswana, where the couple recently holidayed, and two diamonds from Diana's personal collection.

The couple gave little away when quizzed by reporters about the proposal with Harry saying that the details “will come later.”

Harry and Meghan will appear make their first television appearance later on this evening when they sit down for an interview on BBC News at 6pm.

An official statement released this morning confirmed that the Royal couple will marry in the Spring of 2018, though it is likely they will wait until Prince William and Kate welcome their third child, which is due in April.

Speaking about their daughter's engagement, Meghan's parents, who separated when she was six-years-old, said: “We are incredibly happy for Meghan and Harry. Our daughter has always been a kind and loving person.”

“To see her union with Harry, who shares the same qualities, is a source of great joy for us as parents.”

“We wish then a lifetime of happiness and are very excited for their future together.”
