Missing hillwalker’s body has been discovered in Donegal mountains

On Saturday, authorities became aware that a hillwalker had gone missing in the Derryveagh Mountains in Co Donegal.

It is understood that the man, who is believed to be British, had not been seen since last Thursday, but notification of this did not reach authorities until the weekend.

According to The Journal, a search operation was swiftly launched, with mountain rescue teams from Sligo and Leitrim, as well as Bunbeg Coast Guard, Malin Head Coast Guard and Rescue helicopter 118 taking part in the coordinated effort over the weekend.

It has been established that at 6pm last night, the body of the missing hillwalker, who is reported to have a home in Donegal, was discovered.

The cause of death has yet to be established.
