Need a midweek movie? The Edge of Seventeen is on the telly tonight

Christmas gift shopping has put quite the dint in my bank account so the chances of heading out for midweek pints are awfully slim.

Luckily, one of the best coming-of-age movies is on TV tonight so we will all be pleasantly entertained.

The Edge of Seventeen starring Hailee Steinfeld and Woody Harrelson is on BBC Two tonight and you need to tune into the feel-good film.

Harrelson and Steinfeld make the most charming on-screen duo.

The movie follows Nadine as she struggles with high-school life. The teen has enough to deal with as she tackles unrequited love, dull classes and family heartache, but her world turns upside down when her best friend starts dating her older brother.

Nadine suddenly finds herself feeling more alone than ever before, especially after losing her dear father.

The teen forms an unexpected friendship with her teacher Erwin (Harrelson) who helps her realise life isn’t half as bad as she thinks.

This heartwarming and emotional teen movie is one of the best of our time, plus the soundtrack is an absolute dream. 80s pop, The 1975 and Birdy- what more could you ask for?

The Edge of Seventeen stars Hailee Steinfeld, Woody Harrelson, Haley Lu Richardson and Hayden Szeto.

You can watch it on BBC 2 at 11.15pm tonight.
