Meet the panda who faked pregnancy to get better food

Workers at the Taipei Zoo were looking after the giant panda Yuan Yuan when she bagan exhibiting signs of pregnancy.
The signs of pregnancy in pandas are a major loss of appetite and a thickening of the uterus which were both present in Yuan Yuan.
Despite these tell-tale signs, hopes were lost when the panda was not in fact pregnant.
Vets at the facility were able to confirm that she was not in fact pregnant, however they are now accusing her of faking her pregnancy to get better living conditions.
It seems she wanted caretakers to look after her with better food and care it seems as pregnant pandas are extremely well looked after in zoos.
China Daily recorded expectant pandas are moved to single rooms with air conditioning and given a bigger supply of food.
Panda experts have speculated that Yuan Yuan, who gave birth to a cub in 2013, may have been feigning pregnancy to reap these added benefits.
