Gardaí believe Kym Owens may have sustained her injuries in a fall

According to emerging reports, Gardaí investigating the case of Kym Owens are now trying to establish if the student may have suffered her injuries in a fall.

The 18-year-old remains in critical condition after sustaining multiple severe head injuries as she walked to her student accommodation on November 20.

Gardai believe that the injuries were the result of a serious assault, but medical examinations of the teen's injuries now suggest that they could be consistent with a fall, according to The Irish Times.

After launching an investigation into the incident, Gardaí took more than 200 statements, and it was recently confirmed that three women are currently under investigation.

"Three young females are being investigated for the attack, and it is hoped that they will be interviewed in the coming days," a source revealed.

The Gardai are urging anyone with any information to please come forward, as an assault is still believed to be the primary cause of the injuries.
