Heidi Montag: ‘I spent years PRETENDING to like LC for a living’

Before all the 'YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID' drama went down on The Hills, Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag seemed to be a very tight duo.

The girls lived together in Los Angeles for the first two seasons of the show, but in a new interview Heidi says their entire friendship was an act.

"I spent years pretending to like her for a living,” 29-year-old Heidi tells Us Weekly.

"It was literally my job to deal with her, and it wasn’t pleasant."

Ouch. To take things one step further, Heidi is even accusing Lauren of trying to sabtoage her future.

"The fact is, she lied about me and tried to destroy my life, yet I was the one painted as the villain so the show could have her as the good guy."

Although the details were never officially revealed at the time, the bitterness between the former best friends was thought to have stemmed from a rumour fabricated by Heidi that Lauren and her then-boyfriend Jason Wahler, had made a sex tape.

Things ended with a tearful drunken fight between the two outside of an LA nightclub, and although Lauren did attend Heidi's wedding to Spencer in season five, the pair never seemed to really patch things up… understandably.

However Heidi maintains she was the one who had a hard time, not Lauren.

"[I]t is upsetting to me that everyone knows by now that The Hills was a scripted show, yet people still think the negative stuff about me that the show set up to make me the villain to her hero was real," she says.

As for Heidi's husband Spencer, in his recent Complex interview he went so far as to call LC a "cold-hearted killer."

While Speidi seem intent on clearing their name, Lauren said just last month that she doesn't really think about all the past drama these days.

"No… I’m not really involved in that anymore," she told Cosmopolitan.

"I don’t think it has anything to do with me. You just have to focus on the good people in your life.

Focusing on what you lose is only going to make you sad."
