‘Everything happens for a reason’: Lucy Mecklenburgh on break-up

Reality star Lucy Mecklenburgh took to social media yesterday to voice her feelings on her split from Olympic gymnast, Louis Smith. 

"Everything happens for a reason," read the message after it was revealed that the Essex stunner had ended her 14-month romance with the 26-year-old. 

According the Sun, the pair are said to have been drifting apart as Louis trains for the 2016 Olympics in Brazil. 

While the athlete is very much career focused, it has been reported that the 24-year-old of The Only Way is Essex Fame is looking to settle down and start a family. 

"Lucy wanted things that Louis just wasn’t ready to commit to. In the end Lucy wasn’t prepared to wait," said a source. 

"Louis really had led Lucy on in that they’d discussed marriage and kids at length – it came like a bolt out of the blue and doesn’t really make any sense to her."

Yikes. 

The couple had met on a BBC gymnastics show late in 2014. 

The pretty pair had spent the festive period in Thailand as they celebrated their one year anniversary in December.
