‘Sweet and funny’: Chris O’Dowd’s latest Netflix film gets rave reviews

Described as the 'rom-com for people who hate rom-coms', Netflix's latest original release, The Incredible Jessica James, follows the story of an aspiring, New York-based playwright who is recovering from a recent break-up.

Jessica James, played by name sake, Jessica Williams, is forced to go on a date with the recently divorced Boone (played by our very own Chris O'Dowd), and the pair discover how to navigate life post-breakup.

The film landed on Netflix's streaming service over the weekend and judging by the reviews so far, this is about to become one of our new found faves.

"Some people are born to be movie stars, and "The Incredible Jessica James" successfully makes that case for leading lady Jessica Williams." – Geoff Berkshire, Variety

"The Incredible Jessica James isn't reinventing the rom-com, but it doesn't need to. It's sweet, smart, and funny, and makes me want to see Jessica Williams star in all of the things." –  Erika W. Smith, Bust Magazine.

"O'Dowd and Williams play well off of each other, conveying the stages of a new relationship from awkward first date to first big fight with an easy and believable chemistry." –  Katie Rife, AV Club
