Band cancels gig after tour bus kills pedestrian

American Celtic punk band Dropkick Murphys have cancelled a concert in Oklahoma after their bus was involved in a fatal collision which left one pedestrian dead and the driver "severely shaken up".

The Massachusetts’ band, famed for their contribution to The Departed soundtrack with the anthem ‘I’m Shipping Up To Boston’, were travelling to Dallas airport when the collision took place near Austin, Texas.

The band had performed the previous night in San Antonio, but following the tragic event decided to cancel future gigs. Taking to the internet to confirm the news, the band informed fans that the Oklahoma gig would not be taking place due to damage to the bus and the driver’s current condition. 

The band members encouraged disappointed fans to remember the victim of the tragic accident, saying: “As much as it pains us to miss a show and we truly apologise for it, we’d like to stop and acknowledge that a man has lost his life. Please keep him and any family he might have in your prayers."

It has been reporter the deceased ran onto the highway with no warning in what is assumed to have been an act of suicide.
