After two YEARS of silence, Adele posts a Facebook update for fans

If you were hoping for another Someone Like You-style ballad on Adele's new album, you're probably going to be out of luck.

The singer revealed on Facebook today that her upcoming record, 25, will be more of a "make-up" than a "break-up" album.

With no Twitter account to speak of these days, this is the first time Adele has made contact via social media in over two years, aside from one post about World Water Day seven months ago. 

Introducing her open letter with a sheepish "Hello…" the singer went on to set the record straight on what fans could expect with 25 – and why it had taken her so long to make.

"My last record was a break-up record and if I had to label this one I would call it a make-up record,” she wrote.

"I’m making up with myself. Making up for lost time. Making up for everything I ever did and never did.

"Turning 25 was a turning point for me, slap bang in the middle of my twenties.

"Teetering on the edge of being an old adolescent and a fully-fledged adult, I made the decision to go into becoming who I’m going to be forever without a removal van full of my old junk."

Last Sunday, viewers of The X Factor were treated to a 30-second snippet of one of the album's tracks during a commercial break – and if these tweets are anything to go by people are VERY excited:

Now mum to a three-year-old and in a long-term relationship with Simon Konecki. there's no doubt Adele's life has changed significantly since she wrote 21.

"I’m sorry it took so long, but you know, life happened," she says of the four-year wait for her new album.
