A 28-year-old man from Cork has died in Australia after falling "from a height."

According to The Irish Times, Kristian Crowley, who has been living in Melbourne since 2012, suffered head injuries after his fall and was rushed to hospital.

He later died from his injuries in Alfred Hospital on July 16.

Friends of Kristian, who is originally from Ballygarvan, set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to bring Kristian's body home and pay for medical costs.

They have already raised AUS$33,970 out of their AUS$35k target.

Mr Crowley was a massive GAA fan, and Ballygarvan GAA posted a lovely message on his Facebook wall.

“Ballygarvan GAA would like to offer our sympathy to the Crowley Family on the sad passing of Kristian in Australia. Kristin was a brilliant under-age play with Ballygarvan and his loss is devastating.

"To his Mom, Dad, Leon and Karla, we offer our deepest condolences.”

Meanwhile, his friends said that he was “the salt of the earth and as generous as they come, wore his heart on his sleeve and loved life.”
