Michelle on her hopes for a family… and how they haven’t gone to plan

It's only been six weeks since Michelle Keegan married her sweetheart Mark Wright, but she admitted she's already overdue on plans to become a mum.

The actress admitted this week that she always assumed she would start a family very early in life, but things haven't gone exactly as expected.

"I always thought I was going to be a really young mum. I always had in my head that I was going to have a baby at 22 or 23," the 28-year-old told Star magazine. "Obviously that didn't happen!"

With her TV and fashion career really kicking off again since quitting Coronation Street, Michelle says she is happy to put her family plans on hold for a while. As well as starting the second series of the BBC show Our Girl, the actress is also working on a new collection for Lipsy, and there have been strong rumours she will be joining the Strictly Come Dancing crew this autumn.

"Obviously I'd love to have kids someday," Michelle admitted. "When you have a child everything changes, and at the moment I'm really lucky with my life and I don't want anything to change just yet."

For now, the newlywed says she's content to settle into married life and leave the big decisions until later, adding, "I've always wanted to be a mum, but I want to enjoy being married first and having that life with Mark. There's no rush."

That is going to be one cute baby… whenever it arrives!
