Here Is How You Can Choose the Perfect Dog Bed for Your Pup

Have you recently added a new puppy to your family home? Are you looking to spoil your senior pooch? Either way, your canine is going to love a new bed! Dogs love to take naps during the day, as well as curl up at night for a good snooze. Of course, in order to do this, they need their own space.

Yet, you may be surprised just how many dog beds there are to choose from. From fluffy oval beds to cooling rectangular ones, you are going to have to spend a considerable amount of time choosing the perfect bed for your pooch. Here is how you can choose the best bed for your pup.

Consider the Size

Of course, the last thing you want is to choose a bed that is too small for your canine. You want a good size that allows them to spread out or curl up, depending on their sleeping habits. For example, if your dog likes to snuggle up and keep warm, they are going to benefit from a circular or rectangular bed. But if your canine likes to stretch out their legs and keep cool, consider an open rectangular style, almost like a mat.

The best thing you can do is measure your canine when they are in their favorite sleeping position. In particular, you want to know their length measurement. Knowing this measurement will allow you to decide whether you need a small, medium, large or extra-large bed.

Choose the Type

There are actually a lot of different types of dog beds available. For example, you have your standard dog bed. It has some padding and plush materials and it gives you the freedom to add a nice blanket for warmth. For example, check out woof blankets if you want a cool accessory for your canine’s bed.

Then you also have elevated or raised dog beds. This can be a good option if your pooch sheds a lot since they are easier to clean. They can also keep your pup cool during the day as they are made from mesh fabric.

There are even cave-style beds for dogs that love to be warm and snuggle at bedtime. The idea is that they have a cover over the bed that allows your dog to burrow. Naturally, this is what some dogs like to do and it can help them relax and enjoy a good night’s sleep. However, letting your dog sleep with you on your bed from time to time is also not to be frowned at.

Look at the Material

You want a material that is also easy to clean for a dog bed. For example, you can get waterproof materials if your canine is prone to having accidents. This can also keep your furry friend cooler if you live somewhere hot. Some beds are going to be made from washable materials that you can easily throw in the machine when they start to smell. They might have inserts you can take out to wash too. Microfiber and Sherpa fleece are going to be the warmest for your canine, while nylon and canvas can be easier to wash.
