Did you get involved in Fashion Revolution Day?

by

Have you noticed people wearing their clothes inside out today? That's because it's Fashion Revolution Day.

Fashion Revolution Day is where everybody shows off the label of their clothing to celebrate best practice and to raise awareness of the true cost of fashion.

The idea behind it is to think about the welfare of the workers who make all of our clothes. The campaign website says: "We believe in a fashion industry that values people, the environment, creativity and profit in equal measure.”  They want to get the industry to comtemplate whether or not the people working on the clothing production line are getting a fair deal.

The Bangladesh Alliance has been funding clothes factories to improve safety standards following the 2013 Rana Plaza building collapse which caused the deaths of 1,100 workers.

Fashion Revolution Day is helping to make brands more aware of this.

Social media is full of people taking part in Fashion Revolution Day by posting pictures of their clothes labels.

Designer Stella McCartney shared a picture of herself wearing a jacket from her collection insideout, with the caption: "Show your label and ask #whomademyclothes for Fashion Revolution Day".

What a great idea and a great way to celebrate fashion.
