Cat reveals her boss’s oh-so HILAIR reaction to her pregnancy news

Our favourite TV couple are going to become parents for the first time!

English TV presenter Cat Deeley and her Northern Irish comedian husband Patrick Kielty last night confirmed they were expecting their first child together.

Cat took to Twitter to announce the news, adding that her due date was sometime next spring. "Exciting news…. Paddy and I are so happy to be expecting our first child in the Spring….. Lucky us," she wrote.

While fans jumped to congratulate the couple, Cat revealed that her So You Think You Can Dance producer wasn't quite so kind.

"My producer's response to our exciting news! I laughed till I cried! @jimbreen …. You don't want to know my reply!" she wrote, on Instagram, posting a screenshot of a text which read, "Jeff and I are going to a soft cheese and shellfish party. Want to come?"

Cat moved permanently to LA almost ten years ago, and started dating Patrick in 2011, marrying him the following year in Rome. Although the couple had been friends for years and had always had a "spark," Patrick admits that the distance between LA and the UK had limited their chances of ever getting together… until he took a big risk.

"Cat was in LA and I was in Northern Ireland, so I texted her to wish her a happy birthday,"  he told the Daily Mail.

"When she said she was having a birthday lunch at the Beverly Hills Hotel, I said I’d be there…That was 2am. I got up at 5am, went to Belfast airport for 6am, got the 7.15am flight to Heathrow, landed at 8.30am, took off again at 9.40am and arrived in LA at 1.15pm. I was at the Beverly Hills Hotel by 2.15pm. When I walked in, Cat looked at me and said: 'Oh, you’re good!'"

Patrick says he believes that was the couple's turning point, noting, "Unless someone was stupid enough to get on a plane, nothing would have happened."

Congrats to Patrick and Cat!
