Can’t find an outfit for Christmas Day? Our 5 steps to the perfect look

by

Dressing for Christmas day is a minefield.

Whether you are staying at home, visiting family, heading out or playing host, no one really knows what exactly the dress code is for Christmas day.

You obviously want to dress up and impress the cousins for the day that's in it but you also don't want offend Granny by bearing a little bit too much skin.

Oh and it will also probably be extremely COLD.

Whether you have festive dressing down to a T or struggle through it every year, here is some inspiration to get your Christmas Day outfit juices flowing.

The Perfect Dress

The ideal Christmas dress should toe the line between fashionable and appropriate. Midi length skater style dresses are ideal, but if you want to go a bit sexier opt for a fitted pencil dress with capped sleeves.

Avoid glitzy going out numbers and go instead for peplum, sleeved or a-line options that won't offend the family.

The Perfect Skirt

The glorious a-line midi skirt is ideal for the Christmas period. Easily paired with a light polo neck or crop top, having one of these bad boys in your wardrobe will end up your go-to for family events.

You could also try a leather or suede mini paired with tights and boots for a perfect winter feel. Or even throw a light cropped jumper over a pencil skirt and strappy heels for a laid back but sexy effort.

The Perfect Coat

Its CHRISTMAS so go all out on the coat front.

No, seriously.

Tis the season to throw on your best dress coat and how often do you get to wear that really? Go for long line or even full length coats in wool and cosy colours. Don't be afraid to adopt a pattern or a bit of fur. Scrumptious.

The Perfect Accessories

Accessories are the perfect way to glam up an outfit when you have to cover up. Add some sexy shimmer with drop earrings or a statements necklace.

Leather belts add casual detailing if you are worried you will be over dressed and a little shoulder bag may feel a little less like you are headed on a night out than a clutch.

The Perfect Shoes

Avoid super high platforms and go for 4-inch heels or lower instead. Or keep even simpler and opt for thigh high or ankle boots in suede, velvet or leather.

Either way make sure you keep if comfortable because Christmas Day is LONG.

Happy Holidays!
