Let's face it, the best thing about autumn is the footwear. Ankle boots, knee-high boots… basically anything that comes in a lovely tan leather.

But there are loads of other amazing autumn shoe trends out there that are perfect for transitioning into winter. Here are a few of our faves…

1. Snakeskin
This is a seriously sophisticated print that brings a touch of class to any shoe – just don't go overboard and match it to your bag and jacket! We love these light brown heels from Zara (€69.99) – perfect for that pre-Christmas night out.

2. Chunky platform soles
Tougher boots are all the rage this season – we just know these Quiz boots would be perfect for jumping in puddles and piles of leaves. Or, ya know, just walking like a normal adult. They're a steal at €47!

3. Over-the-knee boots
Channel Peter Pan with some suede over-the-knee style. Think how warm your legs will be! Perfect with a skinny jean and a big woolly winter coat. These olive green ones from Aldo (€150) will see you through to 2015.

4. Prints
Whether it's a heel, a flat or a boot, go for a graphic print to really stand out this season. We love these leopard print lace-up loafers from Office (€47) – perfect with dark tights or jeans.

6. Strappy sandals
