5 Personal Hygiene Tips All Girls Should Know About
Hygiene is at the core of self-care. Good personal hygiene can promote health and build self-confidence. Not taking proper care of your hygiene is not good. So if you’re guilty of that, stop now and look at these five simple personal hygiene tips every girl should know and follow.
1. Always Stay Clean
This obviously shouldn’t come as a surprise to any of us. We all know how important it is to take a shower daily, especially if we are exercising. Perspiration results in bacteria feeding on dirt and sweat produced by our bodies which produces odour. Try not to wash your hair more than two or three times a week as excessive washing can strip the scalp of naturally produced oils. Ideally, you should brush your teeth after every meal to prevent the formation of cavities. And it goes without saying that you should be washing your face with a gentle cleanser in the morning and evening, removing make-up before going to bed is essential.
2. Groom Yourself Well
Grooming yourself is important, and for many that includes removing hair on your legs, pubic area and armpits by waxing. Excess hair isn’t the prettiest thing in the world, and it can also create additional underarm sweat. It’s recommended that you wax or shave body hair instead of using hair removal creams. Nacach wax has excellent results even for those with sensitive skin. Even with shaving or waxing, you should still wear a good antiperspirant deodorant to stay fresh. Keep your fingernails and toenails well trimmed and filed, and ideally get a haircut every three months to avoid split ends and hair breakage.
3. Practice Good Menstrual Care
Menstrual care is important – make sure you’re changing your pad every four to six hours, and tampons should be removed every two to four hours depending upon the menstrual flow. Also, make sure to dispose of these pads properly; both tampons and sanitary pads should be adequately sealed and thrown into the trash. During your period, you should try to eat as healthily as possible, with plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables and nuts, avoiding unhealthy options like potato chips, candy and fizzy drinks.
4. Wear Nice Clothes
When you look good, you tend to feel good, so weaning clean clothes is just as important as maintaining good personal hygiene. And be sensible about needing to wash clothes – you dont’ have to wash them after a few hours of weaning, you need to make a sensible decision about what needs washing and what can manage another wear. It goes without saying that you need to wear fresh underwear every day.
5. Practice Good Makeup Hygiene
So you’ve read all the above points and think ‘yeah, obviously’ but do you look after your makeup as well? You should be cleaning your makeup brushes at least once a week to prevent the build-up of bacteria. There are several cleaning soaps you can find in the market, or you can simply use baby shampoo. Replace your mascara and liquid eye liner every three months, no excuses. In terms of weaning make up – remember, less is more for every day use and if you’re worried the look won’t last, you can always bring a small makeup bag with you so you can touch up when you need it.
These are the basis. And the very least a girl should be doing.
