This is not a drill: So, Ireland is set for a total scorcher this weekend

by

There's nowhere quite like Ireland on a hot day.

And because we so infrequently see the sun, there are few among us who don't bask in every second of its glory when it does actually appear.

With that in mind, you may need to prepare yourself for some serious basking as Met Éireann has forecast an absolute belter of a weekend.

With temperatures set to peak in the mid-20s, the entire country will enjoy warm, sunny spells across both Saturday and Sunday.

"A fine and dry day everywhere with warm sunny spells," reads the official forecast for Saturday.

"Cloudy at times in the north and northwest, but the south and east will have long spells of sunshine. Temperatures peaking in the low to mid twenties inland, but fresher near coasts due to sea breezes."

Of Sunday, they say: "Another fine and dry day for most. Long sunny spells generally, and very warm. Light variable winds."

Throw another shrimp on the barbie, ladies…
