Liam Payne and Cheryl have announced their separation after two and a half years together. The singers issued near-identical statements last night confirming their break-up.

They admitted that it wasn’t an easy decision to make, but they have decided to go their separate ways.

Sources have shared that the split is amicable and there is nobody else involved.

“Cheryl and I are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways. It's been a tough decision for us to make,” Liam wrote.

The former One Direction member and Cheryl share a son together. They said one-year-old Bear will always be their number one priority.

“We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together,” the Familiar singer added.

Cheryl also asked the public to respect their family during this difficult time.

It was reported that the couple were having relationship problems earlier this year, but Cheryl and Liam hit back and showed a united front at the BRIT awards in February.

Speaking about the rumours, former Girls Aloud member Cheryl said that they were ludicrous.

The Fight For This Love singer first met Liam when he auditioned for the X Factor at the age of 14. They were reunited again when he joined One Direction on the reality TV show in 2010.

They welcomed their son Bear in the March of 2017.

Nicole went on to reveal how her relationships have suffered as a result of her hectic career.

The singer, who is currently dating 26-year-old tennis star, Grigor Dimitrov, said “timing is everything” when it comes to getting the balance just right.

“I would say it generally gets harder to find the balance the older you get.”

“When things are aligned then it will be easier. There's always a sacrifice to be made but it's either worth it or not,” the 39-year-old added.

Meanwhile it's rumoured that Nicole has not signed up to appear on next year's X Factor judging panel, amid reports that Cheryl could potentially return to fill the role.

Last night's X Factor saw Simon Cowell take the hot seat as the groups battled it out for a spot at judges' houses.

Spaces began to fill up fast, and by the time Wicklow brothers, Seán and Conor Price took to the stage, all six seats had been taken.

And it looks like the added pressure may have impacted the sibling's nerves as their first song, an original called Something in the Way, failed to impress the music mogul.

Within seconds, Simon waved a hand in the air signalling for the performance to stop, before asking the boys if they had another song prepared.

"Guys, I'm going to be honest with you. After that, I'm not sure if I'm going to give you a chair. So I need to hear another song. What's your backup?," he said.

Determined not to let set-back stop them from landing the seat they so desperately wanted, Seán and Conor stepped up to the plate with a stellar performance of another original track, Time.

After winning over all four judges, as well as an audience of thousands, Simon offered the duo a seat, though he did note that the lads would need to work on their nerves if they were going to progress further in the competition.

"Guys, what's clear is that in the small rooms you were much more comfortable. I think it's very difficult for people your age to be on a stage this big because you're showing your nerves.

"So I have to make a decision whether I think this is right for you or too much for you."

"Okay, I've made a decision. You are going to take the seat."

So, it's onwards and upwards for the Blessington brothers, and we can't wait to follow their journey all the way to the top.

After finding fame as a contestant on The X Factor, it looks like Olly Murs has swapped allegiances by joining rival talent show, The Voice.

Rumours about the singer's involvement with the show began circulating late last week, and today, producers finally confirmed that Olly has been recruited as a judge for the 2018 series.

Replacing Gavin Rossdale, the singer will take his place in the famous red chair alongside an all-star panel comprising of will.i.am, Tom Jones and Jennifer Hudson.

Murs said: “I’m absolutely buzzing about being a coach on The Voice UK and can’t wait to sit in the big red chair alongside will, Jennifer and Tom.

“I’m excited to mentor new artists and without doubt I’m in it to win!”

Speaking about the new addition, will.i.am said: “I’m excited to sit alongside Jennifer and Tom again this year, and I know that Olly will add a fun new twist to this year’s coaches’ team.”

However, not everyone is thrilled about Olly's latest career move.

X Factor boss, Simon Cowell, is said to be less than impressed that the star has taken a position on the rival show – especially after he left the X Factor in 2015 claiming he wanted to focus on his music.

The new series of The Voice UK will air on ITV early next year.

Calling all X-Factor fans!

Cheryl Tweedy is officially returning to the judging panel in the upcoming season of the now iconic talent show.

At least for the judges houses section of the competition anyway, according to a new photo released today.

'Simon is ecstatic at getting Cheryl back working with him again,' a source previously told the Mail On Sunday.

'He and Cheryl have been talking a lot over the last months…'

Wicklow brothers, Sean and Conor Price, wowed X Factor judges last night with their contemporary twist on Jimi Henrix's classic, All Along The Watchtower.

Having performed as a duo for around four years, the talented pair could often be seen busking on Dublin's Grafton Street, where they began to build a loyal fanbase.

However, last night, the brothers decided to take their music careers up a notch by attempting to win over the X Factor judges in the Edinburgh auditions.

After a flawless performance complete with an original rap from eldest brother, Sean, the siblings were met with a round of applause from all four judges with Simon Cowell even declaring the audition as “one of the best we've had.”

He added: I'm going to say something to you guys – I don't want to change a single thing from what I saw and heard today"- a massive compliment from the music mogul.

Sean and Conor received a unanimous 'yes' vote, and will proceed to the next stages of the competition.

But of course, the judges weren't the only ones who fell in love with the Blessington duo. Twitter went wild for the unique performance, with some even predicting the boys will go on to win the show.

Grace Davies reduced Nicole Scherzinger to tears when she performed self-penned track, Roots, at her first X Factor audition, which aired on Saturday.

The 20-year-old left the four judges stunned by her heartfelt performance, and it came as no surprise to viewers that the talented young singer was rushed directly through to the next stage of the competition.

But as the first episode of the 14th season drew to a close over the weekend, rumours had already begun circulating that suggested Grace wasn't the struggling artist she made herself out to be.

With reports that she had previously performed with Olly Murs to whispers she had a number of connections in the music industy, Grace's claims that she desperately needed a break began to ring a little hollow.

However, it looks like Grace is all too aware how badly rumours can effect your chances in a show like the X Factor, so she wasted no time clarifying the rumours during a TV appearance this morning.

Speaking with Lorraine Kelly, Grace insisted that the rumours were unfounded, and the reports were blown out of proportion.

"I’ve never had a record deal. When I was 18 I self-released an EP. I wrote it all when I was 16 and 17 and I just organised a band and recorded it in my local recording studio," Grace told Lorraine.

‘I didn’t have a management, I didn’t have a label, I just stuck it up on the internet and hoped that friends and family would share it. I’ve never been signed to a record label, I’m still not, that’s why I’m on the show."

We wonder if that's enough to shut down the rumours…

Look, there's absolutely no denying that interest in the X Factor has waned in recent years.

At its height (we're looking at you, One Direction), the show was a Saturday night staple, but as the years have gone on, the public appear a little jaded by the whole format.

And with whispers of fixed auditions and behind-the-scenes record deals, TV critics have been quick to say that reality TV fans are looking elsewhere for their fix.

Yet despite the apparent dip in interest, Twitter was absolutely lit last night as the viewing public – and Louis Tomlinson – settled in for episode 1 of season 14.

From Kayleigh who wowed the judges to Grace Davies who had Nicole Scherzinger in tears, the calibre was pretty high for the first day of auditions.

And here are just a selection of tweets which sum up Simon, Sharon, Louis and Nicole's return to Saturday night entertainment…

1. Well, if Louis is on board…

 2. Preach.

 3. Ouch

 4. Time will tell…

5. We feel you.

6. She speaks the truth.

7. Sayin' it like it is

Many speculated that Harry, Liam and Niall would show up, and since we didn't know any better, we thought they were a no-show.

However, a short video has emerged which shows the lads all together again after Louis' performance.

In the 3-second clip, Liam is seen hugging Louis, as Niall and Harry stand beside them.

We're sure their support meant to world to Louis, and we're delighted to see the lads all back together again.

It's time to say goodbye to the Xtra Factor!

It has just been confirmed that the spin-off show will not be coming back this year, with reports indicating it has been going downhill for years now.

The show, which was most recently presented by Rylan Clark-Neal and Matt Edmondson, is instead going to move online, and will feature short clips and extra content.

Reports also suggest that it had nothing to do with the two presenters – the format was just not working anymore.

Rylan took to Twitter earlier today to tell his followers: "After an amazing series, I just want to say what an honour it was to finally host The Xtra Factor alongside the lovely Matt and naughty scamp Roman.

"It was always a one year gig (LOLS) and a full 360 for me and I'm grateful I had that opportunity.

"I propose a wake alongside Matt, Roman, Rochelle, Melvin, Sarah, MattR, Caroline, Olly, Konnie, Fearne, Holly & Ben where we can all wear black and mourn as one. God bless Xtra and all who sailed her. Sleep well girl x."

Matt also took to social media to share his thoughts: "I wanted to write a quick something about my time on Xtra Factor, and the news it's not coming back this year…

"I had an absolute blast working on the show – it's honestly the most fun I've ever had at work, and it's thanks to the best production team in the world.

"Xtra had been on the decline for a few years, but we pulled out all the stops to make a show I am massively proud of.

"The feedback was amazing, and as a fan of The X Factor, it was a joy to be involved in some small way. I loved working with Rylan and Roman, and I've no doubt we'll get to do something fun together in the future.

"There aren't many shows on telly that are live and silly, but I'm so glad I got to sink my teeth into this one."

Richard Holloway, managing director at Thames TV, who makes The X Factor, said: "In the past year there has been an increase in digital engagement and online audiences around The X Factor.

"In light of this, ITV's strategy to focus their efforts on digital means The Xtra Factor on linear television has come to its natural end."

Ah, we'll miss it.
