Amnesty Ireland are hoping to host a disco at Dáil Éireann to protest US Vice President Mike Pence's visit to Ireland/

The visit has been moved forward, and Amnesty has began crowdfunding to organise the event in time.

On their crowdfunding page, they said:

“He’ll be in Dublin on the 3rd of September. We want to have a Disco outside the Dáil (at 1pm) in protest. A celebration of all the people that Pence and Trump’s cruel policies are hurting; women, refugees, migrants, and LGBTI people."

They continued;

“We want to show him, and people that support him, that we’re a different country now and that he can’t go back to the USA and say that Ireland supports him, Trump or their policies of hate.

“We’re going to need plenty of colourful banners, a sound system for music, a stage for dancing and maybe even a disco ball! Leftover funds will go to support our other related campaigns.

“And we’re going to invite Mr Pence to our disco. We hope he RSVP’s.”

Pence is renowned for defending the horrible conditions in US immigrant detention centres recently, and tweeted his excitement at the prospect of celebrating his "Irish roots".

Of course, many Twitter users were highly disgusted at the hypocrisy. His grandfather immigrated to the US from Co. Sligo in 1923, so his anti-immigrant views are even more ridiculous.

Pence’s trip is expected to cost up to €10 million in security costs.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and his partner Matt Barrett attended a breakfast with Pence and his wife Karen, which must have been awkward considering the Vice President’s track record on LGBT+ rights.

Pence voted against hate crime laws during his stint in Congress, and has allegedly endorsed cruel gay conversion therapy. His wife also teaches in a school which refuses to accept LGBTI pupils.

Pence opposed the repeal of the US military’s controversial 'Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell' policy in 2010, citing that he did not want to see the military become ‘a backdrop for social experimentation’. Wow.

Sophie Turner has given fans a much-coveted glimpse at her stunning wedding ring after completing her second marriage ceremony with Joe Jonas last weekend.

The Game of Thrones actress and Jonas Brother wed in France alongside their family and friends at the beautiful Chateau de Tourreau, and her Louis Vuitton wedding dress had everyone gasping.

The wedding featured her BFF Maisie Williams and their dog Porky Basquiat as a groomsman, of course.

While congratulating the USA women's soccer team on their World Cup win against England, Sophie flashed us the stunner of a ring;

Earlier in May, #Jophie decided to have a Las Vegas wedding in order to make things official in America before jetting off for their traditional French wedding.

Sophie's Instagram story was posted yesterday during her honeymoon, and the ring is absolutely covered in diamonds along the wedding band. We're not jealous…not at all..

The actress praised Alex Morgan in particular for her goal celebrations (that tea sip is divine), but everyone was distracted by the rock on her finger.

Joe proposed to Sophie back in 2017, and we've been waiting to see the added wedding band ever since.

Her wedding ring is a little more simple than the jewelled engagement rock: the thin band is laced with sparkling diamonds, matching the stone on her initial ring.

You may remember that the pair swapped ring pops at their Las Vegas wedding, so the new jewels are a definite step up for the happy couple.

With many (misogynists) arguing that the demand for women’s football simply isn’t there, audience statistics completely disproves this theory.

Last night’s Women’s World Cup semi-final saw tournament defenders and favourites USA take on England in an incredibly exciting game filled with VAR drama, missed penalties and controversial dives.

It also saw some stunning goals scored by Christen Press, Ellen White and global soccer star Alex Morgan, but USA were victorious in their 2:1 win after England missed their penalty opportunity.

RTÉ2 has released the viewers’ statistics of last night, which revealed that a whopping 315,000 tuned in to the broadcaster to watch USA seal their victory in last night’s FIFA WWC Semi-Final.

20 percent of those watching TV in Ireland at 9:45pm were watching the game, with an audience peak of 316,700 at that specific time.

Declan McBennett, Group Head of Sport RTÉ commented on the excellent support of Irish people for women’s soccer.

“The continuous growth in viewing figures as the tournament has progressed shows the value in bringing a global tournament to an Irish audience free to air.”

“RTÉ, TG4 and indeed BBC are to be commended for backing the Women’s World Cup to the level they did,” McBennett continued, commenting on the support across the UK.

“The tournament has created not only new heroes for many young girls and boys but also new role models given the level of expertise and insight witnessed across the television panels.”

A peak viewing audience of 11.7 million watched England’s semi-final loss to USA on BBC One, breaking a new record for women’s football in the UK and the most-watched TV programme of 2019. For more sport comparisons you can rely on playcomparison.com

The second semi-final will air tonight, featuring Sweden taking on the Netherlands on TG4. Sunday’s grand final will be live on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player from 3:30pm in Lyon.

Chris Brown has gone certified CRAZY at Offset on Instagram over the ICE deportation of rapper 21 Savage.

21 Savage, whose real name is Sha Yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, is being held by American Immigration and Customs Enforcement for overstaying his visa by 13 years. The rapper is actually a UK citizen, and faces deportation.

Since that news hit the headlines, a series of memes have surfaced across social media. Singer Demi Lovato was forced to delete Twitter after laughing at one meme, which caused uproar, and now Chris Brown and Offset have come to blows.

Brown posted one meme to his Instagram which featured a mash-up of 21 Savage performing while UK rapped Big Shaq's voice is played over the clip instead.

Migos star and Cardi B's husband/baby daddy was less than impressed and commented, 'lame'.  He replied to the Loyal singer, 'Memes ain’t funny,' showing support for the UK performer.

It's safe to say that Chris didn't take this too well, telling Offset to 'fight me' in a huge rant; "F*CK YOU LIL BOY. BETTER WORRY ABOUT WHAT U GOT GOING AND FOCUS ON 'YOU'". Oh dear…

It didn't end there…

"U WANT SOME CLOUT WHEN ALL YOU GOTTA DO IS PULL UP. No camera no flexing and all that!!!!! IF YOU A REAL MAN FIGHT ME. Oh and another thing, SUCK MY D*CK!!!!" If his mother heard that bad language, my God.

"If he don’t get his earth wind and fire pootytang space suits wearing cap ass lil boy da f*ck out my comments and off my d*ck." Their heated exchange follows the news that Beyoncé's hubby and rap God Jay-Z has stepped in to pay for legal help for 21 Savage's case.

21 Savage was supposedly from Atlanta, Georgia, had allegedly applied for a non-immigrant U-Visa in 2017, but the application is still pending.

He claims he is being "intimidated into giving up his fight to remain in the United States". Legally, his team say he's not a flight risk as he has three children who are all US citizens and live in Atlanta.

Chris Brown found himself in his own spot of trouble recently after being accused of rape in Paris a few weeks ago, but he was released without charge.

We wonder if Cardi B will jump in to defend her husband?

There's never a quiet moment in the White House, and today proves no different.

US President Donald Trump referenced HBO fantasy hit Game of Thrones to back up his border wall plans, and BOY did it fail.

He essentially brought his parody poster, which was an image of himself (of course) with the phrase 'sanctions are coming' scrawled across it in classic GOT style.

The sanctions are in reference to his notorious border wall proposal, which he wants to block off access from Mexico and various South American countries to the States.

The wall is set to cost over $25 BILLION if it's given the green light, and will also stop hundreds of people from living in Native American tribes from living there, as well as having disastrous consequences for wildlife.

SPOILER: We're pretty sure he hasn't watched the latest series of GOT, because the famous wall which blocks the North from the South is destroyed by the Night King in the finale of season seven.

Basically, the wall didn't work. Which makes Trump's use of GOT references even dumber…if that was even possible.

Cabinet employees tweeted that they had no idea why the poster was brought to the meeting.

Trump is most likely the first President to use memes in serious occasions such as discussions regarding immigration and North Korea.

HBO most likely aren't suing the President, but they made their distaste very clear:

Honestly, we have no words.

Winter better be coming for Trump, we don't know what other season could handle his ridiculousness.

American officials have now told tourists to plan ahead when they’re organising trips to the States, as applications for the ESTA visa are about to get much harder.

The Department of Homeland Security has issued a reminder to anyone planning a visit, warning potential visitors to; “Apply for ESTA no later than 72 hours before departing for the United States.”

The ESTA visa grants you access to enter the USA, but now the process is totally changing, maybe not for the better…

It was, until recently, possible to apply for an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) until basically the last second, with real-time approvals achievable.

Now, you will need to apply for a visa at least 72 hours before you travel in order to gain the documentation in time. The old service is no longer available.

Without an ESTA visa, you cannot gain entry into the United States;

“Real-time approvals will no longer be available and arriving at the airport without a previously approved ESTA will likely result in being denied boarding.”

Just as the Christmas travel rush has started, holidaymakers and business travellers will have to change the way they visit the USA.

US authorities have always advised applicants to carry out the documentation at least three days in advance, most people could get their ESTA almost instantly.

The DHS also warn: “Upon arrival in the United States you will be inspected by a Customs and Border Protection officer at a port of entry who may determine that you are inadmissible.”

The DHS recently added a query regarding the applicant’s social media activities to the form, but it’s optional.

“If an applicant does not answer the question or simply does not hold a social media account, the ESTA application can still be submitted without a negative interpretation or inference.”

Stronger security measures are expected over Christmas and the New Year, when 41 million passengers are expected to travel through American checkpoints nationwide.

Take note, globetrotters.

The folk behind Cards Against Humanity are so much more than a foul-mouthed, albeit hilarious, party game creators.

Never one to shy away form its political views, the company often uses publicity stunts to highlight a range of societal issues including consumer culture and pink-tax – but this latest effort might just be our favourite yet.

According to the official website, CAH have purchased a plot of vacant land right on the US-Mexico border, in an attempt to spoil Donald Trump's party and prevent him from completing the controversial wall designed to separate the two countries.

“We’ve purchased a plot of vacant land on the border and retained a law firm specialising in eminent domain to make it as time-consuming and expensive as possible for the wall to get built,” the statement reads.

For the project (which is now sold-out), customers were asked to donate $15 in return for “six America-saving surprises,” including a map of the land, a certificate of the company's promise to fight the wall and some new cards.

As expected, the anti-Trump Twitter population has thrown its full support behind the cause.

So, if like many of us, your expectation of dating was left skewed after a few too many Meg Ryan rom-coms, you'll know just how different romance can be on this side of the pond.

Think less Carey and Big and a little more Gavin and Stacey.

According to a recent study conducted by dred.com, dating practices between the two cultures actually differ quite a bit – like the fact that an American man is five per cent more likely to pick up the bill than his European counterpart.

Here's a breakdown of some of the most interesting results:

Feeling frisky?

When it came to getting down and dirty on the first date, 76 per cent of both American and European men said they would sleep with someone if the chemistry was right, while only 42 per cent of European and 37 per cent of American women agreed.

Bad first dates

According to the survey, six per cent of European men and two per cent of European and American women have snuck away from a bad first bad without even saying goodbye.

On the other side, 40 per cent of European men said they would stay and give it a chance, while only 31 per cent of American fellows said the same.

Location, location, location

All groups agreed that the best place for a first date was either a restaurant or coffee shop.

However, a high percentage of European men (35 per cent) said that dinner at one another's home was the perfect first date activity (???).

Deal breakers

Both sexes cited bad breath or poor personal hygiene as an instant mood killer.

72 per cent of men also said they would not ask for a second date if the other person treated the waitress or bar staff poorly.

Going dutch?

Interestingly, European women are twice as likely as American women to suggest splitting the bill, while both men and women from the USA believe that the man should pick up the check.

There have been a LOT of changes in the Geordie Shore house over the last year and it looks like the controversial reality show could be about to lose another original cast member as Holly Hagan is reportedly moving stateside.

According to the Daily Star Online, the 24-year-old television personality is flying to the US this month to meet with TV producers and search for houses in a bid to crack LA.

A source told the site: “Holly Hagan is off to Los Angeles later this month to meet with a load of TV producers.”

“She'll also be house-hunting while she's there in West Hollywood.”  Fancy!

After flying first-class across the pond, Holly is apparently going to stay in a penthouse “to get herself in the right frame of mind”.

According to the source, Holly has one major advantage over her MTV co-stars when it comes to making it in the States as because she’s not actually a Geordie, her accent is more subtle than that of her friends.

They said: “Holly has an advantage over the other Geordie Shore reality stars because of her accent…She's from Middlesbrough, which is a little easier to understand for the Americans.”

The other obvious advantage Holly has is the fact she does not possess a criminal record, something many of her cast mates cannot claim for themselves.

Earlier this year Holly hinted that she could be about to follow in Charlotte Crosby and Vicky Pattison’s footsteps and leave the Geordie Shore house behind her.

Speaking to The Sun, Holly – who has been part of the MTV reality series since she was just 18 years old – admitted she’d “been thinking about leaving a lot”.

Whether Holly will go through with the move has yet to be seen, but a West Hollywood penthouse apartment sure does sound tempting.

It was a rousing speech by any – even his own – standards: Barack Obama implored the USA to make sure that Hillary Clinton becomes the nation's first female president when voters go to the polls in November.

And, as the current US president is delightfully want to do, Barack veered away from the prepared script somewhat while addressing the Democratic party national conference yesterday.

"Nothing truly prepares you for the demands of the Oval Office," he said. "But Hillary’s been in the room; she’s been part of those decisions. She knows what’s at stake.

"No matter how daunting the odds; no matter how much people try to knock her down, she never, ever quits," he added.

Sitting proudly in the audience of thousands was, of course, Bill Clinton, Hillary's husband of 40-odd years and a former POTUS himself.

"That’s the Hillary I know. That’s the Hillary I’ve come to admire,"  Barack continued to applause.

"And that’s why I can say with confidence there has never been a man or a woman – not me, not Bill, nobody – more qualified than Hillary Clinton to serve as president of the United States of America.

Significantly, when Mr Obama offered up the "not me, not Bill" line – which wasn't actually in his speech – Mr Clinton's face broke into a sheepish grin.

And when the cheers had died down, Obama added: "I hope you don't mind, Bill, I was just telling the truth!"

As amphibians go – they're actually pretty darn cute: dozens of adorable green and squidgy tree frogs.

However – where they turned up is somewhat less appealing.

Yup, after a recent flood the reptiles made their way into an unsuspecting woman's bathroom – eventually settling around her toilet bowl.

The image has proven immensely popular on Imgur – where it was first shared yesterday by the woman-in-question's daughter.

Indeed, it has now notched up some 7million views, with many online observers reacting with a mixture of horror and wonder at the sight.

"Jesus, tell your mom to change her diet," laughed one. Many others drew on the Biblical story of the plague of frogs in Egypt.

Another user gushed: "This is pretty disgusting but THEY'RE SO CUTE."

Similarly, a further comment read: "The whole chilling out in a dirty crapper is disgusting, but I want to keep all of them. They will be my little froggy babies!"

The animals appear to be American tree frogs – which are native to central and southeastern regions of the United States.
